2001 Fearless Prediction – Redoux

20 Fearless Predictions for the 2001 season.

1. East finish: Metro, NE, Miami, DC.  pretty close but for Miami 1/2 point
 
2. Central Finish: Chicago, Dallas, Tampa, Columbus.  1st right anyway.
 
3. West Finish: KC, Colorado, LA, and SJ.  er… not good.
 
4. The US Open Cup will be won by Los Angeles. YES!, 1 point
 
5. Stoitchkov will be MVP of MLS.   He got hurt, Chacon won.
 
6. Dallas will win the MLS Cup. Dude, are we homers of what. San Jose won
 
7. Tom Fitzgerald will be fired in Columbus and the Crew will hire Thomas Dooley to replace him.

8. Clint Mathis will lead MLS in points.   He would have if not for injury.
 
9. Ryan Nelson will win rookie of the year for DC United.  nope Rodrigo Faria
 
10. The US Nats will qualify for the 2002 World Cup. YES!!!!
 
11. Luis Hernandez and Cobi Jones will both leave LA.  1/2 point Hernandez is out.
 
12. The Burn will be sold before the season is over.  If at first you don’t succeed. nope.. dang it…
 
13. Landon Donavan will play for a MLS team this season. probably LA 1/2 point SJ
 
14. Chicago will win the Supporters Shield.  Miami won it, who knew?
 
15. MLS will award the second expansion franchise to Philadelphia Athletic FC. Contracted instead.
 
16. Peter Vagenas will have a breakout year for LA. Yes, didn’t win any awards, but now they want to trade Cienfuegos.
 
17. Matt Jordan will be goalkeeper of the Year. Not looking good.
 
18. Mike Petke will be defender of the year. Agoos in SJ
 
19. Chicago will not miss Kubik with the emergence of Andrew Lewis as sweeper. They didn’t miss him.1/2 point
 
20. Alexi Lalas will start the majority of games for the Galaxy. Only started 9, played 11.
