Non-MLS Competitions

Over the years, FC Dallas has participated in multiple official competitions outside of Major League Soccer and the US Open Cup. These include the Concacaf Champions League, the Concacaf Champions Cup, and SuperLiga. Perhaps it could someday include Campeones Cup or the Leagues Cup.

1997 Concacaf Cup Winners Cup

March 8, 1998North Groupvs Cruz Azul (Mexico)L 1-2

Even though it was the 1997 tournament, these games didn’t take place until 1998 as they were, in theory, late stages of the tournament.

North Group: FC Dallas – 1997 US Open Cup, Nexaca – 1996 CCWC, and Cruz Azul – 1997 Copa MX. South Group: Olimpia and Platense of Honduras and Municipal of Guatemala who all advanced out of two rounds of Central Zone play. Dante Washington scored the two Dallas goals.

The North Group winner – Necaxa – was set to face the South Group winner – Olimpia – but the game was never played so the tournament is officially listed as abandoned.

The La Manga Cup is a preseason/friendly competition that sometimes is played in La Manga, Spain. FC Dallas went a couple of times to La Manga playing exhibition friendlies in 2005 and 2006. But in 2004 they actually took part in the Cup.
