Confirmed by DIM: FC Dallas transfers Andrés Ricaurte from Deportivo Independiente Medellín

Reports first floated last week of discussion between FC Dallas and Deportivo Independiente Medellín for 28-year-old Colombian attacking-mid Andrés Ricaurte. Yesterday, those rumors turned into a report by Semana TV announcer Pilar Velásquez that the deal was done.

Update (8/12/20 6:06 pm): confirmation from the player.

And today, DIM themselves confirmed the transfer. DIM says FCD will pay 50% of the transfer upon signing.

As of now, there is no confirmation from FC Dallas.

FC Dallas can add Ricaurte and another keeper as they had two open senior roster spots. They are also only using 7 of 9 current international slots.

  1. I like that he was a captain in Medellin and that he was the best player on his team and one of the best in his league. Because of my ignorance of the Columbian league, I don’t know if that guarantees much more than “not bad” in MLS, but it feels like a high, firm floor on his contribution to FCD. He’s a lefty, and Luchi likes lefties. Seems to play a lot like Servania: I wonder whether this indicates Acosta is moving back to the 6 to compete with Santos since Cerrillo hasn’t recovered his form?

Transfermarkt makes it seem like his game’s really taken a step up in the last 2 years, and by their valuation he’d be one of the top 3 or so most valuable players on FCD, for what that’s worth.
