Dallas Burn vs LA Galaxy
Since the Burn are 1-3 vs LA this season we obviously have our work cut out for us. Although the 3-0 win at the Cotton Bowl the second time around was encouraging. It will be vital for the Burn to shut down the LA midfield. Both Alvarez and Eck will have to have a strong series for the Burn to advance. In order to combat Jones down the wing Dir may go with Pollard outside. I would prefer to see Haynes take on Cobi, as he has more speed than Pollard. If Washington still can’t go a full 90 then Trotman will start up top.
On the LA side, Mathis could possibly start or come on as a sub. He and Vanney were both effective versus Farrer last time out. With Calichman still out, there is no LA defender who matches up with Dante well. Jolley will most likely get the call to try and stop Dallas’ big forward. LA will try to control the midfield and use its speed to dribble by Eck and Alvarez. If the Galaxy get penetration from the mid line it could be a long day for Dallas. Dade’s strength, speed, and height should be able to handle Hermosillo; while the Burn MVP, Zarco, will have his hands full with the BrazilianWelton.
