The FC Dallas U15s were invited to take part this week in the FC Bayern adidas Campus Cup and the boys from Texas have brought home the silverware. FC Dallas knocked off the hosts Bayern Munich in the final with a 6-5 shootout result. FCD trailed 2-0 at halftime but rallied to tie the game at 2.
“Congratulations to the FC Dallas! Our thanks to all the teams and adidas, without which such a great tournament would not have been possible. I am already looking forward to next year and hope to welcome all teams again in Munich. For three days we have seen a fantastic tournament with interesting games at a very high level, “said Campus Manager Jochen Sauer.
Dallas lost their opening match of the tournament to Bayern 3-0 but rebounded with wins over Juventus 1-0 and Hamburg SV 2-0. FCD took care of Dinamo Zagreb 3-1 in the semifinal to advance to the Championship game.
Forward Christopher Sanchez of FC Dallas was named the tournament’s best player. Sanchez was a U15 last year when he and his brother Carlos both played up with the 2004s but is remaining with the U15s this year rather than moving up to the U17s. The U15s for the 2019-20 season are all 2005 birth year players.
