Welcome back to the first in-season rankings of season eight of our little roster power bit. If you’re new to this, the premise is simple – power rankings are fun. So we look at all…. *checks notes* – 53, wow – contracted professionals for FC Dallas and North Texas SC. (That’s up 5 from the preseason)
In our rankings, we look at who is playing well, who is playing at all, and the name on the lips of our colleagues in the media and the fans. With all that in mind, let’s check in roughly one month into the 2025 MLS campaign.
Starting XI
Rank | Player | High | Low | Change | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Musa, Petar | High: 1 | Low: 2 | ▲ 1 | Two goals and two assists for the Moose is enough to lead both categories through four games. – Dan |
2 | Acosta, Luciano | High: 1 | Low: 2 | ▼ 1 | FCD will likely live or die by Acosta’s play. He’s an amazing talent, but so far just 1 goal and no assists. His 7 key passes lead FCD, but that is half the league leader and isn’t in the MLS Top 20. – Buzz |
3 | Julio, Anderson | High: 3 | Low: 5 | ▲ 2 | Carried on from a strong preseason with a goal and an assist to back up some solid wing play. He missed the Vancouver loss to get his green card, making him a domestic player by MLS standards. – Dan |
4 | Paes, Maarten | High: 3 | Low: 4 | ▼ 1 | Same ole’ steady play, amazing shot-stopping, not so great at crosses and passing. – Buzz |
5 | Farrington, Logan | High: 5 | Low: 7 | ▲ 2 | Big Dawg has forced his way into a starting spot on the wing. Scored Dallas’ lone goal against Chicago, and what should have been the winner in Colorado but for a bad offside call. – Dan |
6 | Lletget, Sebastian | High: 4 | Low: 6 | ▼ 2 | Solid performances except against Vancouver. But the FCD is midfield is being bypassed and he’s probably not doing enough. What does it say about FCD that he’s still this high? – Buzz |
7 | Urhoghide, Osaze | High: 7 | Low: 19 | ▲ 12 | Urhoghide is the only thing holding the back four together. He’s been surprisingly good in advancing possession, only Lucho has more progressive yards dribbling the ball, and he leads the team in passes between 15 and 30 yards. – Dan |
8 | Moore, Shaq | High: 6 | Low: 8 | ▼ 2 | 2nd best of the FCD defenders. But is he an upgrade on Ruan at this point? – Buzz |
9 | Pedrinho | High: 9 | Low: 12 | ▲ 3 | Beto’s lad has featured more than your average MLS NEXT Pro signing. A goal with his only shot on target, and a nice compliment to Acosta’s freedom to roam where he can tuck inside as a false wing. – Dan |
10 | Farfan, Marco | High: 9 | Low: 10 | ▼ 1 | 4 games and 4 starts but he’s been less than his usual self. He looks tired already and there’s no left back behind him. – Buzz |
11 | Ibeagha, Sebastien | High: 8 | Low: 11 | ▼ 3 | Ibeagha is very firmly your number two CB. The gap between him, Ramiro, and Shaq Moore has been a happy hunting ground for opposition wingers. He is doing well as the conduit for the majority of build-out play. – Dan |

In the Mix
Rank | Player | High | Low | Change | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
12 | Ramiro | High: 10 | Low: 12 | ▼ 2 | His defense has been solid, if a bit limited in range. But the offense isn’t there, everything is a back pass. This team needs progression in the middle. – Buzz |
13 | Ntsabeleng, Tsiki | High: 13 | Low: 14 | ▲ 1 | Remarkable job keeping the play alive twice to assist Musa in Colorado. That’s really it. – Dan |
14 | Collodi, Michael | High: 14 | Low: 18 | ▲ 4 | He’s the clear #2, getting starts at North Texas SC to prep for Maatren Paes’ callup. – Buzz |
15 | Kamungo, Bernard | High: 11 | Low: 15 | ▼ 4 | There was a hope that Bernie would come alive under Eric Quill. That has not happened. – Dan |
16 | Delgado, Patrickson | High: 16 | Low: 20 | ▲ 4 | At times he can add something quality. Other times, like against the Fire, it’s a nightmare. 3 subs, 45 minutes total. – Buzz |
17 | Abubakar, Lalas | High: 13 | Low: 17 | ▼ 4 | The ‘break in case of emergency’ option at center back currently. His nine minutes so far have been just to move to a back three against Vancouver. – Dan |
18 | Newman, Enzo | High: 15 | Low: 18 | ▼ 3 | Just one North Texas SC start for Newman. He’s not yet getting into FCD games. – Buzz |
19 | Norris, Nolan | High: 19 | Low: 21 | ▲ 2 | Currently in Spain with the US U-20 team. Ever-present on the bench, but no minutes yet in 2025. – Dan |
20 | Cafumana, Show | High: 17 | Low: 20 | ▼ 3 | First, he missed camp cause he was sick. Then he missed the start of the season cause he was injured. Now he’s finally back in training. – Buzz |
21 | Kaick | High: 21 | Low: 29 | New | There’s a lot of team hype for the Brazilian now that he’s in town. Coming off a rough outing for the midfield duo, Kaick’s first minutes may come soon. – Dan |
22 | Chu, Leo | High: 16 | Low: 22 | ▼ 6 | Deeply entrenched in the coach’s dog house, he can’t even get in a game. Came into the season out of shape and then got hurt. – Buzz |

Second Team
Rank | Player | High | Low | Change | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
23 | Garcia, Diego | High: 22 | Low: 23 | ▼ 1 | Played all 180 minutes for North Texas SC so far. – Dan |
24 | Sainte, Carl | High: 24 | Low: 25 | ▲ 1 | On loan to Pheonix Rising where he seems to be doing well. Two games, two starts, 7/12 on duels. – Buzz |
25 | Augusto, Alvaro | High: 25 | Low: 30 | ▲ 5 | A lengthy visa process cost Alvaro the latter part of preseason, but he immediately started for NTX and recorded an assist. – Dan |
26 | Sarver, Samuel | High: 26 | Low: 31 | ▲ 5 | NTSC’s captain, 2 starts, 2 goals. High energy, intense, combative, and a dawg. Looking like Los Toritos’ best player at this point. – Buzz |
27 | Ramirez, Anthony | High: 27 | Low: 27 | — 0 | Two starts and a goal for North Texas, plus a bench for FC Dallas. – Dan |
28 | Scott, Tarik | High: 28 | Low: 28 | — 0 | 1 NTSC start,1 FCD bench. He needs to be playing. – Buzz |
29 | Carrera, Antonio | High: 23 | Low: 29 | ▼ 6 | Toño hasn’t made an MLS bench or featured for North Texas so far. He needs some kind of playing time, so what happens with Paes away this FIFA window will be interesting. – Dan |
30 | Endeley, Herbert | High: 24 | Low: 30 | ▼ 6 | Not making FCD benches, not playing for North Texas, stuck in the middle. – Buzz |
31 | Contreras, Jaidyn | High: 31 | Low: 42 | ▲ 11 | Currently in Spain with the US U-18s, Contreras turned a sub appearance in the opening NTSC game into a 70-minute start a week later. – Dan |
32 | Torquato, Josh | High: 32 | Low: 32 | New | One of the newest North Texas SC signings has started both games at left back. Looks very composed. He was playing with NTSC as an amateur in the spring. – Buzz |
33 | Pondeca, Tomas | High: 33 | Low: 35 | ▲ 2 | An opening day start for New Mexico cut short by a red card in the team. The positional switch to center mid from wing seems to be sticking. – Dan |

In Reserve

37 | Cangiano, Gianluca | High: 37 | Low: 38 | ▲ 1 | Two starts without yet making a significant impact. – Dan |

42 | Urzua, Alejandro | High: 33 | Low: 42 | ▼ 9 | Was the starter, probably at the 6. Injured just days before the season. The injuries are killing his career. – Buzz |

44 | Kaakoush, Isaiah | High: 40 | Low: 44 | ▼ 4 | 2 subs appearances for Los Torito, now a US U17 callup. – Buzz |
45 | Bulkeley, James | High: 39 | Low: 45 | ▼ 6 | The rare sub-who-got-subbed appearance against Vancouver. Came on, got injured, and went off. – Dan |
46 | Pomykal, Paxton | High: 46 | Low: 47 | ▲ 1 | Not yet ready for training but he’s running, we hear, so we’re starting to get excited. – Buzz |

Rise and Fall
Five new signings entered the ranks at positions we deemed appropriate. We’ll see how they do.
It was a tight race for the biggest climber between Oszae Urhoghide and Jaidyn Contreras. We had questions as to when Oz would integrate into the team and how good he going to be. The answers turned out to be “right away” and “amazing.”
Contreras climbs after a big jump in PT and impact from the spring moving into the season.
It was a tight race for the biggest fall too. Daniel Baran wins the drop as an FCD homegrown we expect to be starting for North Texas SC and he’s coming off the bench.
He’s followed closely by FCD U22 signing Enes Sali who is hardly playing while on loan and Ale Urzua who would be a starting CM for NTSC if not for, yet another, injury knocking him out. Marlon Luccin is just one space off the pace after not making even a bench for Los Toritos.
And there we have it. We’ll check back in the second half of April for our next round of rankings.
