If you’ve been around 3rd Degree for a bit, you will likely know I love the Dallas Cup. I love the teams from all over, watching different kinds of soccer, and on top of that is the chance for me to scout a fair number of FC Dallas Academy sides all in a short window.
Due to the way the schedule worked out, I haven’t been able to watch more than 1 FCD team each day, but it’s still a great time.
Day 1 Scouting: FC Dallas U14s vs FC Buffalo
FC Buffalo is the brand new Academy of the soon-to-be-playing USL expansion side in Buffalo. They don’t even have a name yet. I heard some parents saying they can’t wait to have a name soon. This side was a USYSA side and their club, some parents told me, was formed last year.
So it goes without saying they were a bit overmatched. That meant I didn’t get a lot of value in terms of scouting the FCD defense, but I did get a few notes on some of the attackers.
FC Dallas U4s, 1st half left, 2nd half right.
The U14s won 5-0. So keep that in mind before we get too carried away, no one for FCD was playing much defense.
A Few FC Dallas U14 Notes
50 Benji Flowers – Elite athleticism and top-notch soccer skill. One to watch for sure. Very impressive at this stage.
4 Sam Onsarigo – Langy and super rangy, he was everywhere. Technically solid with a raw set of abilities I look for in players.
9 Lenon Luccin – Despite the jersey number, he’s an 8. Very technical like his older brother, but more engaged and active. Very nice looking player. Scored a brace.
3 Elvis Pineda – Super quick burst, great in tight traffic with a quick trigger.
26 Jonathan Vela – Active and aggressive with a good shot from anywhere near the box.
The 14s won their 2nd game 4-1 over Angeles Soccer Elite from Mexico and sit atop Bracket C with 6 points (9 GF, 1 GA). They have Oklahoma Energy FC on Wednesday on Ross Stewart 2.
Day 2 Scouting: FC Dallas U17s vs Brasillis FC
Brasillis is, I heard, a soccer school/academy. They were quality, so this was a great game for me in scouting terms. FCD won 2-0, but they were challenged all over the field.
I’ve seen this FCD U17 team before several times, so most of my viewing is confirming some things about players and looking for progression since my last viewing. Or checking out any newcomers.
One sub at half with 34 Kevin Rodriguez coming on at RB and shiting to more of a 3-4-3.
But with about 25 minutes left, Coach Matias Asorey brought in 5 more subs going to this…
A Few FC Dallas U17 Notes
38 Wyatt Easterly – He’s always been big, strong, athletic, pacy, and aggressive. At outside-back or wing that wasn’t bad, but at center back, I liked his game even better. I heard someone say this was maybe his 2nd start at CB? Fantastic, keep him there.
56 Ninor Olu – Lots of upside here, fantastic raw pieces. New to the Academy from ECNL this year, but I can see why they are playing him up an age group. He’s got a lot to learn, but I love the potential. He almost scored on a bomb from about 40 yards out. He’s moving up my board.
36 Matt Razo – He remains my favorite player to watch in this group. His engine is just unreal. (Favorite to watch is not the same as biggest prospect.) Box-to-box 8, two-way player, tenacious, and stirs the pot.
51 Christian Hernandez – Stay at home 6 who impressively flexes between CB and 6 depending on the tactics. Organizes and provides a really solid foundation.
The U17s won their first game 3-4 over Los Angeles Soccer Club and sit at 2-0 in Bracket E after this one with 6 points (6 GF, 1 GA). They face 210 FC USC RL North on Wednesday at 2 pm on Toyota 9.

The U19 Combined Team is 0-2 with 0 goals for and 9 goals against.
FCDY ECNL RL 07/06B is 0-2.
FCDY White ECNL 07/06B is 2-0 and will likely go through. Game 3 is vs Tropical Soccer Impact Black (1-1) at 4 pm on Toyota 12.
FCDY ECNL 07G is 1-0-1 and faces a tough Solar Black ECNL RL side in game 3.
FCDY ECNL RL 07/06G is 1-0-1. They go against Dallas Texans ECNL RL NTX.
U18s
FCDY ECNL RL NTX Red 07B are 1-1 and could get through with a good enough result in game 3 vs La Familia.
FCDY Red ECNL 07B is 2-0 and (basically) tied atop their bracket with DKSC 07 Tazzan. Those two teams face off in a game 3 showdown. Big game there. Wednesday, 4 pm on Toyota 14.
FCDY Blue ECNL RL NTX 07/06G is 0-2.
FCDY White ECNL RL NTX 07/06G is 0-2.
U17s
FCDY Red ECNL 08B is 2-0 and in 1st place. Face Phoenix Rising in game 3.
FCDY ECNL 08G is 2-0 with an amazing 19 goals for and 1 goal against. Game 3 is against BVB IA (Dallas).
FCDY ECNL RL 08G is also 2-0, they have 9 goals for and 0 against. Big game against Solar SC Rangel ESNl RL-NTX in game 3.
U16s
FCDY White ECNL 09B is 1-1. Looks like they have a chance to go through with a good result in game 3 against Grove United (0-2).
FCDY Red ECNL 09B is 2-0 with 11 goals for and 0 against. Game 3 is against LTCC Elite SGA Premier.
FCD RGV 2009B Elite is 1-0-1, but they face undefeated DKSC ECNL in game 3. Tough draw.
FCDY ECNL 09G is 2-0. Game 3 is against Solar SC Naizer FDL.
FCDY ECNL RL 09G is 0-0-2, which is a lot of draws. That might be tough to get through, but they do face 0-2 GLASA Dallas Legacy Arroyo.

FCDY Red ECNL 10B is also 2-0 and tied for 1st. They face Orlando City South for the bracket at Noon on Richland 2.

FCDY Red ECNL RL NTX 10G is 1-0-1. They face 1st place Solar SC South Adames FDL, and a win would put them on top.
