Napalm Award:  Jason Kries  (MVP)
        The Burn are 22-2 all time when he scores.  End of story.

Band-Aid Award: Chad Deering (best mid season addition, Newcomer, or Rookie)
        Deering’s arrival stopped the bleeding at the back.

Phoenix Award: Eric Dade (biggest re-birth)
        After a injury plagued 97, Dade finished 98 as a very solid man marker.
 
 

MLS AwardsMVP: Marcelo Balboa, Colorado Rapids
        Colorado is a team of roll players.  Balboa is the glue that holds them together.

Best Player: Brian McBride, Columbus Crew
        Tremendous strength and presence in the box.  Stern John is good, but anyone looks good next to McBride.

Best Defender: Luis Kubik, Chicago Fire
        the man is a rock and the centerpiece of the leagues best defense.

Best Goaltender: Kevin Hartman,LA Galaxy
        LA doesn’t miss Campos at all.

Rookie of the Year: Loe Cullen, Miami Fusion
        A rookie starting at sweeper in MLS.

Best Mid Season pick up: Chad Deering, Dallas Burn
        Arguably the best player in the Western Conference.

Trade of the Year: Roy Lassiter, DC United, for Roy Wegerle, Tampa Bay Mutiny
        Lassiter filled Diez  Arce’s hole and Wegs led Tampa to last place.

Pack Your Bags Award: Eric Wynalda, San Jose Clash
        With his Salary and bad attitude he’s gone.
