US Men’s National Team Head Coach Gregg Berhalter has called up 28 players for a camp in Columbus, Ohio, in preparation for three Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers in late January and early February. FC Dallas striker Jesus Ferreira has been named into the squad.
The USMNT will face El Salvador on January 27th at Lower.com Field in Columbus (7 p.m. ET; ESPN2, UniMás, TUDN), Canada in Hamilton, Ontario, on January 30th (3 p.m. ET; Paramount+, Telemundo, Universo), and Honduras on February 2nd at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn (7:30 p.m. ET; FS1, Univision, TUDN).
The game-day roster for World Cup Qualifiers may only include 23 players.
Also of potential interest to FC Dallas fans is the selection of Academy products Reggie Cannon, Chris Richards, Kellyn Acosta, Weston McKennie, and Ricardo Pepi. Possible future Dallas player Paul Arriola – the subject of an agreement in principle for a trade from DC United – was also selected.

off topic but wanted to respond to something about GAM on the podcast.
It’s claimed that GAM expires, but there is really no support for that contention. According to the MLS Roster Rules which MLS puts out every year, there is no mention of GAM expiring and there never has been. There was an article in 2017 on the MLS website that claimed that GAM did in fact expire https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/stejskal-where-and-how-johannsson-might-wind-mls-duka-move.
But i’ve never seen anything official or independently brought out to support this. I find it hard to believe that MLS would hide the fact that GAM expires if it really did – what would they gain by it?
Additionally, there is no mention that GAM acquired via other routes (trade or player sales) has an expiration. It might be possible that the annual allotment has an expiration date but GAM acquired via other sources does not.
All this to say that i think it is highly likely that Dallas is sitting on a boatload of GAM from their recent transfers which makes it easier for them to aggressively go after a player like Arriola.
It’s a mess for sure. But there os evidence that in the past you had to use GAM in a year… like this tweet from Paul Tenorio from 2 days ago.
Interesting. I wonder if now the league is changing its view on GAM to allow teams more financial flexibility. It’s not like it can be used outside the league so every team is going to use it eventually.
Seems they are changing it, yhere has been some discussion of late that GAM now lasts longer.

Also, what I found yesterday on the Charlotte website. “All GAM must be used in full each year, as it does not rollover. Clubs are also required to use their entire Salary Budget.”
