As many “Cowlumbus” jokes I’ve made about the team from Ohio’s capital over the years, it is worth noting one thing: The Columbus metro area is actually about the same size as the Cincinnati metro area.

Thank God it was a bye week. I usually don’t get geeked for international breaks, or whatever passes for international breaks in this league, but at least it gave us fans a week-long break from watching the steady procession of players onto the injury list.

At this point, I feel bad for Luchi Gonzalez. He may not be a very good coach, but man, he keeps getting kneecapped by his employers.

A team that knows how to run the 3-4-3 and that has great wingback play came into Frisco and beat FC Dallas for the first time in their 12-year history. Oh, you want more?

Since I’m as MLS old-school as the shootout and the countdown clock, you know I was going to pick this one, since it is as old-school as any rivalry in this league gets.

It was just over two months ago that the Columbus Crew were lifting MLS Cup after defeating LAFC. This filled me with so much joy because it gives me the opportunity to laugh at two entities:

Sadly, Papi and Orlando City are out. Not so sadly, Peter Vermes and Sporting Kansas City are also out.

If that was the last home of 2023, FCD provided the fans with some entertainment that wasn’t a drone show.
