I’ve been asked to put out some names of players that I think fit Morrow’s taste for rangy soccer players. This is all just my opinion based on what I have seen and know about players. I tried not to pick the best 10 players in the pool but instead looked for a couple guys who might last through the first four rounds. They are listed in alphabetical order.
Ten Players Morrow Might Like
Ely Allen (Washington) – A forward at UW, likely a wing or midfielder in the pro game. Incredible work rate and energy, he can really cover some ground and has nice moves.
Jeremy Barlow (Virginia) – A fast midfielder that needs to improve his soccer thinking, but could be coached into a nice player. Has lots of good tools, he just needs to put it together.
Eric Brunner (Ohio State) – Skinny, but very mobile and quick. Real tall and can pass fairly well for a big man. I think he’s more mobile than some of the other defenders who are more highly coveted.
Jeff Cameron (Rhode Island) – A tall midfielder that I like out wide. He’s got good range and is capable of getting to the end to cross.
Scott Campbell (North Carolina) – A more central midfielder but one who can cover good ground. Not as nifty as Avila or O’Brien, but more active.
Joe Germanese (Duke) – A wide midfielder that I really like, can beat players with both pace and dribble. Plays defense and works hard.
Jon Leathers (Furman) – A center back converting to outside back. Real fast and mobile, still learning to play out wide but has big upside.
Rauwshan McKenzie (Michigan State) -An athletic and aggressive defender with recovery speed. Not a refined soccer brain, but could be really good. Can play both centrally or wide.
Shea Salinas (Furman) – The fastest wide mid with the biggest range. This kid can really move. Soccer skills not as good as Germanese but he’s blazing fast.
Brek Shea (US U17) – Tall and agile with great feet for a 6’3″ midfielder. Could play any spot in midfield has great speed and good awareness, plus he knows how to play.
