With the inaugural USL League One season at an end, two North Texas SC players have brought home league awards. Ronaldo Damus is the first-ever USL-1 Golden Boot winner with 16 goals and Arturo Rodriguez is the league’s first Assist Champion with 10 assists.
Damus, a Haitian International, also came in at #1 on the USL 20 Under 20 list having scored one goal per 87 minutes this season, an astounding striker rate.
In addition to his 10 assists, Rodriguez led the league with 72 chances created, a large part of why I wrote he should be USL-1 MVP last week.
The 2019 USL League One Golden Boot, Golden Glove and Assists Champion are the opening three awards that will be presented by the league this year. League One’s Most Valuable Player, Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year and the USL League One All-League Teams will be announced later this month.
Dallas Jaye of the Greenville Triumph was named the USL-1 Golden Glove winner with a 0.78 goals-against average.
Both Damus and Rodriguez were also named to the USL League One All-League First Team.
