North Texas SC head coach Eric Quill has been reunited with a member of his USSDA National Championship winning squad as the USL League One team signs Alex Bruce from San Antonio FC.
The striker spent last season on loan at Lansing Ignite. The 21-year-old started twice against North Texas SC and saw action off the bench as the teams split their three games with a win apiece following a tie in their first meeting. In that May contest, Bruce scored to put Lansing up by two before a Ricardo Pepi inspired comeback in the last ten minutes kept NTX unbeaten. Bruce was also shown a red card after the game as players argued at the whistle.
Born in Gateshead, England, Bruce grew up in Texas attending Tompkins High School in Katy. He played on the USSDA National Champion Texans SC under Quill and alongside Chris Richards and Christian Cappis. Bruce joined San Antonio FC in 2018, equaling their rookie record of three goals in 13 appearances. He was loaned to Lansing at the start of the 2019 season recording three goals and two assists in 23 games.
Lansing ceased operations at the end of the season, at which time Bruce joined North Texas SC for post season training.
With Ricardo Pepi now spending more time in the FC Dallas roster, and Richard Danso’s departure, Bruce adds to Quill’s options in the North Texas SC attack alongside Ronaldo Damus.
Bruce signs a one year contract with an option for the 2021 season.
Don’t remind me of Richard Danso’s departure (or Jatta’s for that matter). 😠
